Celtic are not currently pursuing a move for Las Palmas goalkeeper Dinko Horkaš, according to a fresh report from Record Sport.
The Croatian has been linked with a switch to Parkhead throughout the summer, but the latest claim is that he is not part of Martin O’Neill’s current transfer plans.
The 27-year-old was monitored closely as Celtic assessed their long-term goalkeeping options, and his performances for Las Palmas placed him among the names under consideration.
Horkaš is also understood to favour remaining in Europe as he looks to strengthen his chances of breaking into the Croatia national-team picture.
However, Celtic have not submitted a formal offer to Las Palmas.
The Spanish club are believed to be willing to negotiate, although they still want a significant fee for one of their most valuable players.
Horkaš missed Las Palmas’ recent friendly defeat to Orlando Pirates, with his absence connected to his transfer situation.
Another club has already made an offer for the goalkeeper, but Las Palmas rejected the bid.
The latest report suggests Celtic may have decided to look elsewhere, despite Las Palmas still waiting for a response from the club.
That does not change the player’s position. Horkaš is open to Celtic, but there is currently no indication that the Hoops are preparing to turn their previous interest into a bid.
Viljami Sinisalo has been handed the gloves following Kasper Schmeichel’s retirement, and Celtic’s plans for the position remain under scrutiny as the new season approaches.
For now, Horkaš remains available and receptive to a move, but Celtic appear to be keeping their distance.
