Chris Sutton hit back at Simon Jordan on X after Celtic sealed another dramatic Premiership title under Martin O’Neill on Saturday.
The former Celtic striker reacted after Jordan dismissed the outcome of the Scottish title race shortly after Celtic’s comeback win over Hearts at Celtic Park. Jordan posted that it was “a shame for Scottish football” that Hearts had missed out and claimed there was “nothing exciting or new” about Celtic winning the league again.

The timing of the comment quickly sparked anger among Celtic supporters given the scale of the title race and the chaos surrounding the final day.
Celtic had started the afternoon behind Hearts in the table and trailed 1-0 during the first half before fighting back to win 3-1 through goals from Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda and Callum Osmand.
Martin O’Neill’s side had spent weeks chasing Hearts after looking out of the race earlier in the season following the defeat at Tannadice. The comeback run included late drama against Motherwell and another chaotic finish against Hearts on Saturday.
Jordan’s post drew a sharp response from Sutton, who clearly took issue with the wider dismissal of Scottish football as well as the comments arriving on the day O’Neill had just delivered another title at Celtic Park.
Sutton replied directly to Jordan on X after the match.
I doubt you’d say it to Martin O’Neill’s face… what an embarrassing take anyway. Scottish people care about Scottish football and you can carry on not caring from London. https://t.co/4F1D4jruwr

The exchange carried extra edge given the relationship between Sutton and O’Neill. The pair worked closely together during O’Neill’s first spell at Celtic and remain extremely close, with O’Neill emotionally praising Sutton during his post-match interviews after the title win.
Saturday also hardly looked like a routine title success.
Hearts pushed Celtic all the way to the final minutes of the season and were still within touching distance of the trophy before Maeda’s late winner changed everything at Celtic Park.

By stoppage time supporters were already flooding onto the pitch after Osmand’s goal sealed the title.
For anybody inside Celtic Park, it felt like the complete opposite of boring.

Lots of us Irish care as well! Champions! Lots of partying going on over here!
