Fresh off Celtic’s domestic double-winning season, Kieran Tierney and Auston Trusty have swapped the pressure of title races and cup finals for something slightly different – Scottish snacks versus American snacks.
The two Celtic defenders featured in a new SPORTbible Snack Wars video where they went head-to-head testing food from Scotland and the USA to decide which country comes out on top.
The pair worked their way through a brilliant mix of snacks and classics including:
- Pickles vs Pickled Onions
- Soor Plooms vs M&M’s
- Roll and Square Sausage vs Pancakes
- Tunnock’s Tea Cakes vs S’mores
- Irn-Bru vs Snapple
It made for a far more relaxed setting after an exhausting campaign where both players played huge roles in Celtic somehow recovering from one of the most chaotic seasons in recent memory to complete the double under Martin O’Neill.
Tierney, in particular, enjoyed an outstanding return season at Celtic after coming back to the club last summer.
Despite ongoing fitness management throughout the year, the left-back still managed an incredible 18 goal contributions from defence while featuring in 53 matches across all competitions.
His influence during the title run-in was massive, both on and off the pitch.
Trusty also produced several major performances throughout the campaign, particularly in Europe and during the League Cup semi-final victory over Rangers where he was one of Celtic’s standout players.
The American defender’s form improved significantly as the season progressed and he became an increasingly important figure under O’Neill during the final weeks of the campaign.
Now, after helping deliver another league and Scottish Cup double, the pair can at least enjoy debating whether Irn-Bru or Snapple deserves the trophy next.
There is only one correct answer there, despite the point being awarded to the juice through gritted teeth!
