Tomas Cvancara has come under fire after another frustrating display in Celtic’s win over Dundee.
The 25–year-old was handed a start by Martin O’Neill, becoming the third different striker used in as many games.
It’s a pattern that sums up Celtic’s season.
Daizen Maeda led the line against Motherwell, Kelechi Iheanacho got the nod at Tannadice, and Cvancara was given his chance at the weekend.
But he didn’t take it.
The Czech forward endured a difficult afternoon, struggling to impose himself and looking short of confidence in front of goal.
Since arriving in January, goals have been hard to come by.
He has just one from open play, against Falkirk back in early February, with his only other strike coming from the penalty spot against Motherwell.
Now, Andy Halliday has delivered a brutal verdict on Open Goal.
He said: “Watching Cvancara for the first 60 minutes, he was all over the shop. He’s not giving you anything at all. He looks so uncomfortable in front of goal.”
It’s a damning assessment, but one that reflects the current reality.
Celtic are still searching for a reliable focal point up top.
And right now, the No.9 jersey remains very much up for grabs.
