Celtic Release New Training Gear Amid Fan Backlash

Celtic have released another batch of adidas training gear for the 2026/27 season, despite still waiting to confirm their first signing of the summer at the time of writing.

The club have already launched the home kit, stadium kit and third kit ahead of the new campaign, with the latest release adding a full men’s training range to the online store.

The timing will not go unnoticed by supporters.

Celtic are in the middle of a summer where major squad rebuilding is needed, and Camilo Duran is expected to arrive over the next 48 hours to become the club’s first signing of the window. Until that deal is formally confirmed, though, the club’s only confirmed arrivals this summer have been on the retail side.

The new adidas range includes a dark green pre-match jersey priced at £60, while the dark green pre-warm top is listed at £90.

The shadow green hoodie and track jacket are both priced at £65, with the shadow green training jersey coming in at £45.

Other items include a sleeveless jersey at £38, a training polo at £40, a winter top at £75, an all-weather jacket at £85, training pants at £55 and training shorts at £38.

At the top end of the range, the shadow green parka is listed at £180, while a black and grey reversible gilet is priced at £90.

The release also comes against the backdrop of the Celtic Fans Collective’s “Not Another Penny” campaign, which was launched last season as a protest against the board and encouraged supporters to stop spending on club-controlled revenue streams outside of match tickets.

That makes every new retail launch more sensitive than usual.

There is nothing unusual about a club releasing training gear before a new season. Celtic and adidas have a commercial schedule to follow, and these ranges are planned well in advance.

But the frustration among supporters comes from the wider context.

Fans have been waiting for movement in the transfer market, with the squad clearly needing fresh additions before the season gets fully underway. The Duran deal now looks close, but until he is officially announced, the contrast between regular kit launches and slow transfer business is hard to ignore.

For supporters backing the “Not Another Penny” campaign, the message will be straightforward. They want to see greater ambition, better communication and more urgency from the club before putting more money into official merchandise.

Celtic will hope the mood shifts once signings start arriving.

Duran is expected to be the first through the door, with Martin O’Neill confirming after the Shelbourne match that the Qarabağ forward is due for a medical before joining the squad in Portugal.

Even so, the timing of another retail release will feed into a familiar frustration. Celtic’s commercial department continues to move quickly, while supporters are still waiting for the football department to catch up.
