With just 24 hours left in the window, Celtic are FINALLY making moves.
Tomas Cvancara arrived on loan earlier this month, but Martin O’Neill has made it clear that one striker won’t be enough. Now, it looks like reinforcements are finally on the way, with significant developments coming out of Germany this morning.
Respected journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Celtic have reached a verbal agreement with Junior Adamu over a switch to Glasgow. Talks with SC Freiburg are described as advanced, and both clubs are now working through the final details.
Most telling of all, Adamu is already en route for his medical. That’s no longer just interest, it’s action. While a few clubs are still trying to derail the move at the last minute, Celtic remain confident this one will get done.
The final structure of the deal isn’t confirmed as of yet. Celtic are making a late push to boost their frontline, and Adamu is firmly in their sights.
The 24-year-old forward joined Freiburg from Red Bull Salzburg in 2023 for a fee of around €6 million. He arrived with a reputation for being quick, physical. But his Bundesliga stint hasn’t gone as planned.
So far this season, Adamu has made 18 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice and assisting once. But the numbers don’t tell the full story. He’s struggled for consistent minutes and is now actively searching for more game time. That’s opened the door for talks, with both player and club ready for a fresh start.
For O’Neill, the Austrian international offers exactly what’s been missing. He adds strength and speed. With options thin and fixtures piling up, his arrival would bring much-needed depth.

This window has been a frustrating one for fans, with criticism mounting over the lack of permanent signings. Another striker coming in now would help ease that pressure, even if the sense lingers that this move could’ve been made sooner.
It’s not over yet. Other clubs are still circling, and nothing has been signed. But with a medical underway and terms agreed, Celtic are closer than ever to adding a second striker before the deadline.
Celtic play Falkirk on Sunday afternoon and then all eyes will be on deadline day on Monday to see what sort of squad Celtic have for the run in. As it stands Celtic are nine points behind Hearts and two points behind Rangers.
