Celtic supporters may recognise the name Fares Ghedjemis, who was linked with a move to Glasgow in recent months. His agent has now hinted at the player’s next move.
His agent, Fabrizio Ferrari, has confirmed the player had no intention of leaving mid-season, even with clubs circling.
He told Tuttomercatoweb:
“The market rumours about him in January? He really wanted to finish the season with a promotion.
“This was the boy’s intention, with Frosinone then potentially monetising the operation in the summer.”
That last line will not go unnoticed at Celtic.
Ghedjemis has been one of Frosinone’s key men this season, hitting 12 league goals as they sit third, just three points off Venezia at the top. Promotion is still very much alive, which explains why neither player nor club wanted disruption in January.
From a Celtic point of view, the timing now makes more sense.
Ghedjemis fits that profile. He is not a project player in the traditional sense. At 23, he has put up numbers in a competitive league and is playing in a side with real pressure to deliver.
The key detail here is the willingness to sell.
Ferrari has effectively put the player on the market for the summer window, with Frosinone expected to cash in if the right offer arrives. That opens the door for Celtic to revisit their interest without the complications of a mid-season move.
Whether Celtic follow it up is another question.
Recruitment over the past year has been mixed, and supporters will want to see a clearer plan this time around. Identifying targets early is one thing. Getting the deals done is another.
Ghedjemis could become one to watch again as the season winds down.
If Frosinone fall short of promotion, the situation may move quickly. If they go up, the price rises, but the intent to sell still looks to be there.
Either way, Celtic have been given a signal. What they do with it will matter.
