It’s set to be a busy summer at Celtic, with a significant squad rebuild looming.
Players out on loan are set to return in the coming weeks upon expiry of their loan deals.
Johnny Kenny was enjoying a successful spell at Bolton, but his season was cut short by injury.
Stephen Welsh became a stalwart in Motherwell’s defence, helping them secure Europe thanks to a fourth-place finish.
But one notable name whose future hangs in the balance is Luis Palma.
The 26-year-old joined Lech Poznan on loan in June, going on to make a real impact as they sealed the Ekstraklasa title.
Poznan have had a couple of bids rejected by Celtic, who set a €4million release clause in his contract.
The Hoops are said to be willing to renegotiate, leaving the door open for a permanent Palma exit to the Polish champions.
Their club press officer, Adrian Galuszka, hinted that Palma’s future could be decided over the coming days:
“It’s no secret that Luis has felt at home in Poznań throughout this season.
“He’s been able to work his magic, be effective, contribute key statistics, and play a part in several important results for the team.
“We have to wait for the final decisions. We knew from the start that they would come after the season. I suspect it will be a matter of the next few days” [The Celtic Way].
It would be a move that suits all parties. Palma has refound his form and proven a valuable member of the Poznan squad, and Celtic recoup funds that could, and should, be reinvested back into their squad as preparations for next season get underway.
There will be several other outgoings, with the Hoops hierarchy aware that they cannot let up on the recruitment side of things as they look to make it six titles in a row.
Before that, however, the Hoops have a Scottish Cup final showdown on Saturday.
