Reported Celtic target defensive Oskar Wojcik insists he has not heard anything concrete regarding a potential move to Glasgow despite continued speculation linking him with the Scottish champions.
The defender was linked with Celtic during the winter transfer window after reports in Poland suggested the Hoops made a significant late push to sign him from Cracovia.
Back in April, journalist Piotr Koźmiński claimed Celtic’s interest had been extremely serious.
He said:
“According to our information, Celtic were courting Wójcik until the final days of the winter transfer window.
“The Scots offered over €4 million.”
Cracovia were believed to be holding out for closer to €5million and the deal ultimately failed to materialise before the deadline.
However, Wojcik’s name has continued resurfacing as Celtic prepare for another major summer rebuild following the domestic double-winning campaign under Martin O’Neill.
Despite that, the player himself says he remains completely in the dark over the rumours.
Speaking about the speculation to Meczyki, Wojcik said:
“I don’t know anything at this point.
“I haven’t heard anything from the club or my agents.
“It’s only in the media.”
The midfielder also admitted he does harbour ambitions of eventually reaching the Premier League one day, although he stressed there is currently no fixed roadmap in place for his career.
“Obviously, it’s not the right time yet, but I’ll definitely want to get there someday.
“We don’t know what will happen before then.
“There’s no specific plan.”
Celtic could look very different by the end of the summer, with uncertainty around a number of players in the squad.
Stephen McGowan recently reported that players including Reo Hatate, Paulo Bernardo and potentially Arne Engels could all depart as part of a wider overhaul ahead of Champions League qualifiers.
Daizen Maeda also looks set to go, while the captain, Callum McGregor, still has rumours surrounding him.
