Celtic have once again been linked with a move for a Scottish international striker.
It’s set to be a busy summer at the Hoops, with several stars departing, leaving positions needing to be replaced.
Players such as Daizen Maeda and Arne Engels have been the subject of interest down south and overseas as they seemingly near the exit door.
The current squad needs quality added as it is, but things could look very different between now and the beginning of next season.
The Hoops have been linked with a plethora of players between the last summer window and January.
That move put any speculation regarding a move to Celtic to bed. That is, until now.
Hellas Verona’s relegation from Serie A has been confirmed, 14 points adrift in second bottom with one game to play.
Bowie netted four times in 13 appearances for the Italian club, including goals against Juventus and Inter Milan. It was a return which wasn’t enough to pull off a mircaculous escape from the drop to the country’s second division.
Their relegation has led to rumours surrounding the 23-year-old’s future, with Arena stating Celtic remain in pursuit of his signature.
The Italian outlet said:
“The first threat is Celtic. The newly crowned Scottish champions are eyeing Kieron Bowie, whose recent goals against Juventus and Inter have sparked a wave of interest.
“However, everything is still in its infancy. It’s too early for anyone, after all, to make any official moves. Celtic, however, stuffed with short, lean forwards, desperately need a centre-forward. And Bowie fits the bill perfectly as a physical striker, but also capable of getting into space and playing for his teammates.
“Celtic are keeping an eye on things, even if only remotely for now, but Bologna are not yet, although they have nevertheless cast some eye on Bowie, thanks in part to Giovanni Sartori’s constant appearances at the Bentegodi.”
The club will likely be monitoring several targets, and Bowie remains on their radar.
Verona may look to offload multiple stars as they prepare for life back in Serie B.
It’s one to watch, with Bowie likely to have several other clubs interested in Italy’s top flight.
The striker missed out on a place on the plane for Scotland’s World Cup squad. But given the promise he has shown at both Hibs and Italy, a bright future is ahead for the former Raith Rovers forward.
