Celtic are reportedly targeting a former Roma and Ajax midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window opening.
Now, according to a Bosnian news outlet SportSport, Benjamin Tahirović is on the club’s radar.
The 23-year-old currently plays for Brøndby, who finished fourth in the Danish top flight. He moved to Danish outfit Brondby for £2.3million in 2025, with his contract expiring in 2028.
Primarily a defensive midfielder, the Bosnia & Herzegovina international has already earned 26 senior caps despite his age.
Standing at 6ft 3in, he offers physicality and ball-winning ability, while his experience in Serie A, Eredivisie and the Danish Superliga suggests he has already operated in demanding tactical systems.
From a Celtic perspective, the link makes sense. With uncertainty surrounding the futures of multiple stars, the club will likely need midfielders capable of playing deeper while still progressing the ball.
Tahirović’s profile leans more toward a controlling presence than a creative No.8, which could complement Celtic’s more attacking midfield options.
There is competition, however. SportSport have also linked Porto with the Bosnian international, and Brøndby reportedly aren’t rushing into a sale.
The Danish side are believed to be hoping his involvement at this summer’s World Cup increases both his value and the number of interested clubs.
Statistically, Tahirović featured regularly for Brøndby this season, making over 30 appearances across competitions. While he netted just once, his game is more focused on defensive work, transitions and recycling possession.
At this stage, the reports are still emerging from abroad, and there’s been no confirmation from Celtic or Brøndby, but it’s clear the midfielder is firmly on the radar heading into what is set to be a major summer rebuild in Glasgow.
