Auston Trusty has eased any fresh injury concerns after being pictured back in training at Lennoxtown this morning, just days after going down while on international duty.

The defender was involved with the United States during the March break, and there was immediate worry when he pulled up late on in their friendly against Portugal. With Celtic already stretched at the back, it looked like another problem in a key area.

That match took place on Wednesday, and Trusty’s issue came right at the end. He went down around the 90th minute after chasing a loose ball, with no contact involved.

He was taken off straight away, which only added to the concern at the time. A late, non-contact injury in that situation usually points to something more serious.

Instead, it turned out to be far less worrying.

Trusty later confirmed the issue was cramp in both legs, rather than any muscle damage. That explains the nature of it. High minutes, travel, and match load can catch up, especially late in games.

He has now been seen back out on the training pitch, which backs that up. There’s been no delay in his return, no sign of further problems, and no suggestion of a setback.

That matters for Celtic heading into the weekend. With Araujo still out and Johnston only building back up, the defence doesn’t have much room for another absence.

Trusty has been one of the more reliable options in recent months, playing and handling a lot of minutes. Losing him, even short term, would have meant another reshuffle.

Instead, he looks ready to go again.

The timing of the training return suggests he’ll be in contention for Sunday, with the international scare now looking like nothing more than a late-game issue rather than anything longer term.
