Celtic FC Women will turn their attention back to the SWPL title race after their Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Glasgow City. Elena Sadiku’s side fell short in the fourth-round clash, suffering a disappointing result against their league rivals.

The Ghirls in Hoops were narrowly defeated 3-2 by Glasgow City, as the experienced side turned the tie around to qualify for the next round.
Sadiku spoke about the defeat on Celtic TV:
“That is the only thing we can control because we can’t do anything about what has happened. So now our focus is on the league games we have left.”
Now, all focus is on Friday night’s trip to Tannadice, where Celtic will take on Dundee United under the lights. The Ghirls currently sit second in the league, level on 47 points with Glasgow City, who top the table on goal difference.
The Celtic boss emphasised the importance of playing to their strengths, with fixtures still to come that could impact their position in the league:
“Obviously, we know that both Glasgow City and Rangers are ahead of us when it comes to goal difference at this moment in time.
“That is something we’re aware of, and that is something that we always try to do – score as many goals as we can.”
Scoring goals in the league has not been an issue for Sadiku’s side, having already netted 72 times this season.
Their last three league results highlight their free-scoring form, with an impressive tally of 18 goals:
• Celtic v Aberdeen (8-0)
• Celtic v Hearts (4-0)
• Queen’s Park v Celtic (6-0)
With the title race heating up, Celtic will be determined to maintain their strong league form. A win at Tannadice would apply pressure on Glasgow City and keep Rangers at bay as the battle for the SWPL crown intensifies.
