Plans to relocate Celtic Women’s Team to play their games at Lesser Hampden have been announced.
This comes as part of a vision to accelerate the growth of the game, with Scotland co-hosting the 2035 Women’s World Cup.
Celtic currently play their home matches at Hamilton Accies’ New Douglas Park, but new propositions announced by Herald Sport could mean another stadium change for the women’s side.
The plans reveal a potential ground-share between Celtic, Rangers and Glasgow City.
Lesser Hampden is currently home to senior men’s Championship side Queen’s Park and has a capacity of just under 1,000.
Elena Sadiku’s squad moved from the Albert Bartlett Stadium in Airdrie to the Hamilton venue in September 2024 to meet UEFA requirements, after they became the first Scottish team to qualify for the Champions League group stages.
They have, on occasion, played crucial games at Celtic Park. They lifted Scottish Women’s Premier League title for the first time in the club’s history there in 2024 thanks to a late Amy Gallacher goal which sealed a 1-0 win over Hibs.
They currently sit fifth in the table having won eight and lost three of their 12 games, and are seven points behind leaders Glasgow City.
Scotland’s national stadium, Hampden Park, and Hibs’ Easter Road are among the 22 proposed stadiums that could host the 2035 Women’s World Cup.
