STEPHEN WELSH was wanted by Udinese on a loan-to-buy deal, however, Celtic rejected the proposals from the Italian club. The 22-year-old is still developing and has played a crucial role in Celtic’s squad stepping in when players are unavailable, so it was in the club’s best interests he stayed put.
It looks as if this will be the case after Udinese confirmed the signing of Pablo Mari on loan from Arsenal. The signing of the Spaniard will most likely end the club’s interest in the Scotland under 21 captain.
Felice ed orgoglioso! Non vedo l'ora di iniziare questa nuova avventura e dare tutto me stesso per la maglia bianconera e per i suoi tifosi!

Keeping Welsh was key. With numbers in central defence limited, all it could take is one injury or suspension for the academy graduate to be back in the starting lineup.
Celtic’s transfer business is not quite finished. The club is still looking to move many players on, whether it be on loan or on a permanent basis. As for incomings, Ange has distanced himself from any potential incomings with the signing of Matt O’Riley imminent.
