Celtic are reportedly guaranteed €8.6 million in fixed UEFA payments despite dropping out of the Champions League at the play-off stage.
UEFA’s 2026/27 distribution circular confirms that clubs eliminated in the Champions League play-off round receive €4.29 million, with Celtic’s payment scheduled for 18 September.

The Hoops’ place in the Europa League league phase then brings a further €4.31 million starting fee.
The large majority of that payment, €4.14 million, is due on 25 September, with the remaining €170,000 scheduled for a later date.
That leaves the Bhoys with €8.6 million in fixed UEFA allocations before any other Europa League income is to be taken into account.
The amount does not include Celtic’s value-pillar payment, which is reportedly calculated separately by UEFA using different factors including broadcast marketing value and each club’s coefficients.
That amount has reportedly not yet been confirmed for Celtic, meaning the Hoops’ guaranteed European return is likely to rise beyond the basic €8.6 million.
Results in the Europa League will also add to the total earned.
One league-phase victory is worth €450,000, while a draw brings around €150,000.
There are further payments attached depending where clubs finish in the 36-team table and how far they progress once the knockout rounds do begin.
Celtic will also have four home games at Celtic Park during the Europe League league phase, with ticketing and hospitality revenue outside UEFA’s distribution payments.
The timing of the payments is also worth noting for Hoops fans.

The club do, though, already know roughly the level of guaranteed income attached to the Champions League play-off exit vs LASK, and a place in the Europa League.
Missing out on the Champions League represents a major financial drop compared with reaching the league phase, but Celtic have still secured a substantial sum by dropping into the Europa League.
With so much transfer business still to be completed before next Thursday’s summer window deadline, the figure of around €8.6 million provides a clear baseline before any additional income from the value pillar, Europa League results or matchday revenue is added.
