Vasilis Barkas could be set to end his Celtic hell by heading out on loan in January.

Reports today claim there are three Turkish clubs interested in the goalkeeper’s services and will look to make a move in the January window.

The Barkas signing has been a disaster. Brought into replace Fraser Forster on a large fee, the stopper has not even been good enough to be a replacement or competition for Scott Bain.

After one competitive game this season and a mistake by the Greek goalie, Ange Postecoglou dropped Barkas and he’s never returned to the starting XI. Scott Bain was preferred until the bhoys signed Joe Hart in goal.

It’s better for all parties if Barkas moves on but clubs who are interested will likely want to try before they buy given the goalie’s form over the last 18 months.

It’s not been easy for Vasilis, making his first move out of his country during a worldwide pandemic. There are mitigating factors here but it can’t be denied he’s not been good enough to hold a place in the squad, never mind the starting XI.
