Celtic cleared out a lot of deadwood this summer through loans ending and natural attrition. One of the men who returned to their parent club after failing to make an impression was defender Jeremy Toljan. The German made 14 appearances for the club in the second half of last season but failed to dislodge Mikael Lustig who kept his place until he also left Celtic this summer.

Toljan amassed 941minutes in a Celtic jersey and went home with an SPFL medal and Scottish Cup honour. However, there was nobody at Celtic clamouring to try and get this lad back for the upcoming season.

Toljan has returned to Dortmund but his future looks uncertain with the German’s and Football Italia have reported over the weekend claim Sassuolo are looking to bring Jeremy to Serie A.

The Italian side were 11th in Serie A last term and are currently in need of a right back, much like Celtic.
