Former Celtic striker Stefan Scepovic has reflected back on his time in Glasgow at Celtic stating it was a ‘wonderful’ time in his career, despite not having the best of times in Scotland, struggling to get game time.

As quoted by the Daily Record, the Serbian who is now plying his trade in Japan was speaking ahead of his countries Euro’s play-off tie against Scotland and warned them of the dangers his old team-mates can cause them.

“My time at Celtic was a wonderful, unforgettable experience. All around me were good players and they are a huge club

“I had Leigh Griffiths, Callum McGregor and Stuart Armstrong as teammates at Celtic and they are all in the current Scotland squad.

“Griffiths is always looking for the ball. He can find space and is extremely gifted with a ferocious shot. He’s not that tall, but he has a spring when he jumps and his reflexes are exceptional. He’s Scotland’s most dangerous player for me.

“Callum McGregor was only a kid when I was there, but I still remember him as being very comfortable on the ball and is good at reading a game.

“Stuart Armstrong arrived from Dundee United when I was there. He’s a hard worker. He gets up and down the pitch. He is technically very good. It’s no surprise to me to see him doing so well in the English Premier League with Southampton.”

Despite not getting as much game time as he probably would have liked, it is good to see a player like Scepovic speak fondly on his time at the club. A lot of the time you hear of foreign players whos moves haven’t worked out, speaking out about how they didn’t enjoy their time in Scotland but its the exact opposite for the 30-year old.

It is a shame that it didn’t work out for him, as based on his comments he enjoyed life here and probably would have loved to have said for an extended period of time.

He has clearly been impressed with some of the players we have at the club and has remembered the quality they possessed, as his country prepares for this huge fixture.
