Albian Ajeti has spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Austrian Bundesliga side Sturm Graz but has failed to make an impression thus far.

The Swiss frontman has made 18 appearances in all competitions up to this point but has scored just four goals in that time and has yet to complete 90 minutes once.

In fairness, his time in Austria has been ravaged by injury yet due to his struggles, as per Football Scotland, Ajeti is set to return to Celtic this summer.

It is also said by Football Scotland that the centre forward will have no future at Parkhead when he returns to Glasgow and this, combined with the fact he’ll have just a year left on his deal with the Scottish champions by summer, means he could depart for a low price.

One imagines it will be tough for Celtic to make any profit on the 5.5 million euros (Transfermarkt) they shelled out on Ajeti back in summer of 2020 however any money that adds to Ange Postecoglou’s war chest for the 2023/24 campaign will be warmly welcomed.

It is fair to say it never worked out for Ajeti in green and white. He did contribute to last season’s title triumph, albeit insignificantly, via a brace at home to Ross County and when he departs, he will do so with the best wishes of everyone involved with Celtic.

After all, who could forget when he paraded around the hallowed Paradise turf in sunglasses at the title celebrations back in May like a true cult hero.
