It was confirmed by Scottish Daily Mail Sports Chief Writer, Stephen McGown that Damien Duff was indeed at Celtic Park on Thursday evening sitting in the directors box with the head of youth development, Chris McCart.

Duff had mentioned a few weeks ago about having positive talks with Celtic over a role at the club and would swim across the water to sign for his bhoyhood heroes.

It seems as if Duff was interviewed to take over for Shaun Maloney who left Celtic a few months ago to take up a full time coaching role with Belgium.

Damien looks set to be the man to replace Shaun with the Irishman tasked with helping Celtic develop their young talent.

With so many potential first-team stars in this crop at Lennoxtown, it’s a big job with a lot of responsibility.

It’s unknown yet if it was Brendan Rodgers who got the ball rolling on this move with the pair knowing each other from their time at Chelsea.
