Celtic goalkeeper Ross Doohan has been linked with a loan move to English League 2 side Tranmere Rovers.

According to the Daily Record, the 23-year old is also being closely watched by fellow Scottish Premiership side Dundee United. However, Tranmere are poised to make their move.

Last season Doohan spent spells at both Ross County and, towards the end of the season, at Tannadice on an emergency loan with United.

There, he caught the eye of current Tranmere boss Mickey Mellon, who is now trying to bring him down south for another loan spell.

The two sides have recently worked together, with Lee O’Connor spending last campaign down south with the League 2 side, so there is definitely a possibility of this deal happening.

Celtic’s goalkeeping situation is far from ideal, but Doohan is already far down the pecking order.

For the sake of his progression, it is probably best for the young stopper to be playing football at this stage of his career, so sending him out for another spell on loan is a sensible decision.
