CELTIC have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of another French star Romain Perraud after the defender confirmed he is done with his current club Nice.

Celtic have just landed French defender Christopher Jullian from Toulouse and they could now be set to dip back into the French market to bulk up their defensive options further.

It looks like there’s no way back for Romain at Nice and he will be looking to move on before the window closes. The Frenchman is a left back by trade and would be coming in initially to play understudy to Kieran Tierney with the opportunity to become Celtic’s first choice left back if the club decides to cash in on their star man this summer.

Speaking about his current situation, Perraud has made his opinions clear after he claims his parent club disregarded him last term while he was at Paris FC:

“I am under contract. I respect people but this season, I did not receive a single call when was I performing very well.” he told L’Equpe as cited by SunSport.

“I am not even speaking about a contract extension offer, just to have a catch-up with me.

“This is a difficult situation and I hope that it will ease off very quickly.

“I have no news from the current representatives but Nice have missed the boat with me. I want a new challenge.”

With Izaguirre leaving Celtic for the second time this summer there is a need for a backup for Tierney who is still recovering from a double hernia operation.

If the club can geta deal done for Perraud, the 21-year-old would be a welcome addition.
