It has been a bad week for news on the injury front but there’s one man set to ease this ever so slightly with the news James Forrest is set to make a return.

The midfielder surprisingly missed out at Ibrox with Neil Lennon telling fans on the day the player had suffered an injury.

The interim Celtic boss didn’t risk James and now it looks to have paid off because the Scottish PFA Player of the Year has declared he’ll be ready for the cup final by saying he could even feature on Sunday during trophy day.

Asked if he would be back for the cup final the midfielder told SunSport. “Yes. It’s still early at the moment and I’m taking it day by day.

“We have the final game against Hearts on Sunday and I’m not ruling out being involved in that one.”

The winger has had a top season for both club and country. Scoring goals for fun at times and terrorising defences. He will be needed come the cup final as Celtic look to break down a resolute Hearts side at Hampden.

One less player to worry about going into the showpiece event.
