HEARTS have been dealt a double blow in their pursuit of the league Cup and maintaining their top spot in the SPFL.

The Jambos confirmed today that TWO first-team stars John Souttar and Uche Ikpeazu will be out longterm.

Levein revealed that Souttar, who has played in all of Hearts games this season will be out for six months while Ikpeazu will be out for around five months.

Uch has scored four goals and made three assists in ten appearances for the Jambos and will be a great miss, as will Souttar who has been a rock so far this season.

Celtic will go into the Murrayfield semi-final with the knowledge both players will be unavailable which is a huge boost to their treble-treble bid.

Celtic were beaten by Hearts earlier in the season and will be out for revenge come next Sunday.

The bhoys first have to deal with the Jambos Edinburgh rivals before jetting out to Germany where they take on Leipzig in the Europa League.

  1. We are double treble winning champions, since when do we need any of our rivals,to have players out of action
to be seen as a boost to our semi final chances?
What would be described as a boost to our support, would be the return of Broonie, all players back fit from international duty, itching for revenge over Hearts for the early season defeat at Tynecastle.
    HAIL HAIL

  2. Completely agree with Gordon. Opposition injuries are not the concern. Getting a consistently dominant team out each week for Celtic is the only thing that matters, and getting fair and square sweet revenge on Hearts would be enjoyable.
