CELTIC contract target Ben Pearson will NOT be in the Preston North End side going forward after he told his current club he wouldn’t be signing a new deal.

Our scoring system has been watching Pearson since last season and were interested in a move in the summer. However, his contract situation means the club could grab Ben on a free now and see him come in this summer.

There’s no chance he’ll be re-signing with Preston and now interested parties have been given the green light to go make a deal.

Alex Neil confirmed to Lancs.live.

“Listen, Ben would’ve been fit to be in the squad today, but we’ve signed some new lads that need to get minutes now.

“Ben has made it clear to us that his future doesn’t lie here come the end of the season.

“And, there is no point us going and strengthening positions and bringing players in if I’m not going to give them a shot and play them.”

The biggest issue with Celtic bringing in new players over the next six months is they can’t guarantee who will be in charge.

Neil Lennon looks on borrowed time with the nine in a row champions but the club have not specified what happens next after a disastrous season.

Knowing the club, they’ll just keep on going until renewal time and then try to put something together.

Pearson could be a good midfield signing but is bringing in players under so much uncertainty the right thing to do?

Football League FC claim the player is on £8kpw for the English side.

  1. There are players currently in the Hoops squad that make seven thousand a week less. And Celtic (sic) struggle to pay them. Is this the sound of moonbeams I hear? He’d need to be a Henke or Lion for the suits to pay that.
Add his name to the long list of never going to happen. Ever. Unless the next bunch of coaching staff really need a player such as he.
