BRENDAN RODGERS has given Celtic a potential massive summer transfer boost by declaring if Filip Benkovic is to head back out on loan this summer he wouldn’t hesitate to send him back to Celtic Park.

The former Celtic manager was asked about the current state of play when it comes to his defender’s and Filip is due back at Leicester after the Scottish Cup Final.

“Filip’s situation is one I’ll look at.” he told RecordSport.

“But there’s no doubt that if I want him to go out on loan again, I’d want him to go to Celtic.

“Of course, I’ll have a conversation with the player – I think he’s a big talent.

“But we’ve got four really good centre-backs here with big experience in Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Wes Morgan and Caglar Soyuncu.”

Celtic fans would love to have Filip for another full season. He is by far Celtic’s best centre back although Neil Lennon has refused to play him much to this point because he is a loan player. Neil has opted to play Jozo and Aher, two players who are under long contracts.

Could Brendan Rodgers do Celtic a massive favour for next season? There’s no doubt Celtic need defensive reinforcements with Dedryck Boytata certainly leaving now.

Would Filip fancy a move back to Celtic for another season or would Neil or any new manager want to bring in somebody they have chosen?
