CELTIC are looking to do business as early as possible and they have made sure they have let their interest known in one player already who they hope to bring in before the end of the month.

David Turnbull, currently playing at Motherwell is on the Parkhead club’s radar and this has been confirmed by a source at the Fir Park club.

However, the same source was keen to stress that there were as much as ten clubs interested in the midfielder and Celtic were no higher up the queue in their pursuit of the player.

Turnbull, 19, had a standout season for ‘Well. The midfielder scored 15 SPFL goals and won young player of the year.

Speaking about the interest to RecordSport, the Motherwell source doesn’t believe Turnbull will be at Fir Park come the start of next season.

“There’s so much interest it’s hard to imagine Motherwell are going to be able to hold on to him. A total of nine or 10 clubs have now been told officially what price the club is willing to accept – and, yes, Celtic are one.

“Their interest has been formally registered but, at this stage, it has gone no further than that with Celtic or any of the others.”

Celtic have a whole host of targets the club need to get on with looking to secure. Turnbull could cost up to £3million to secure. More money that Peter Lawwell would have imagined it would cost to land the youngster.
