On Tuesday night Sky Sports confirmed that Celtic have opened negotiations with Spurs over a deal that would see Carter-Vickers signs permanently for the club.

Celtic are now in talks with the London club as to how they can structure the payment of the £6 million fee agreed between themselves when they negotiated an optional fee at the end of the American’s loan.

It seems that despite needing to free up some wages and bring in some money for Conte to spend, Spurs will be sticking to their valuation of the player and are not willing to lower it.

Carter-Vickers has been impressive in a Celtic shirt and is part of, statistically, the best defence in the league.

Celtic are trying to negotiate a deal this January rather than holding off until the summer. Again, this is a statement of intent from the club, something the fans are not so familiar with.

  1. Leave this one until the summer. I doubt any club in England will pay 6 million for CCV. Not based on his 5 games for Spurs or a season in the SPL. The price will half with Celtic in a good place. We may be gazumped by a no mark EPL struggler and he may take the extra wages. That may happen but the price will be 2.5-4 mill not 6. Worth waiting and focus on Jota.
