CELTIC have avoided another potential international problem after Vasilis Barkas was set to be stranded in Greece ahead of the Glasgow Derby.

The new Celtic stopper has been on international duty and like the rest of the players, is due back in Glasgow to quickly prepare for the big game. However, an air traffic control strike has seen things grind to a halt according to RecordSport.

Celtic moved swiftly to avoid a potential scenario where the player would be stranded and hired a private jet to bring the goalkeeper back to Glasgow.

It also means the goalkeeper avoids packed flights where he could be more susceptible to the virus.

Barkas will take his place in goals for Celtic for the derby and will get his first taste of the rivalry under the most peculiar of circumstances.

An empty stadium will greet the players on the day and they must put that to the back of their mind in order to get a result.
