Celtic are 24 hours away from being able to offer their summer transfer target, Alfie Doughty a pre-contract deal.

The Charlton player who can play left back and left mid is yet to sign a deal with his current side.

Alfie suffered an injury earlier this season and has been out as a result, it’s unknown if Celtic have moved onto other targets or if they were waiting for the player’s contract to run down.

The bhoys made two bids for Alfie in the summer which were rejected by Charlton at the time as reported by SunSport. They didn’t want the player to leave and believed they could get him to sign a new deal.

With the new year bells set to ring out this evening, Alfie will be free to talk to any club interested in his services.

There are claims Celtic’s Glasgow rivals have been sniffing about Alfie in recent times but this could be a negotiating plot on his agents part.

  1. Two words of this has worried me, ‘Suffererd and injury’ . Sounds familiar for Celtic chasing anyone. See what his medical flags up. Even on a free.. Is Alfie any better than players Celtic have on loan at other teams?
Is he better than the squad players who cannot even get a game. So much for cutting the dead wood. Too many bits of driftwood countng down their contracts at Paradise. Are these directors and their employees fit for purpose!!!!!!
