Celtic are in pursuit of West Ham frontman Veron Parkes according to reports after the 18-year-old rejected a new deal with the hammers.

Parkes is a centre-forward who can also play either side of a front three.

The youngster has scored 11 goals in 14 appearances in the under 18 Premier League and is highly rated by his club.

However, the news he might not be staying on at the Hammers has alerted clubs including Celtic according to Football Insider.

The bhoys are looking around at the market, trying to find value for money and they can offer a great pathway for many young players careers. Jeremie Frimpong a perfect example of Celtic taking a player from down south and bringing them on.

When it comes to Celtic’s forward line, there’s only one man who is top dog and that’s Odsonne Edouard. There’s no guarantee of any sort of game time at the club when Eddy and Leigh are available.

Jonathan Afolabi has found it hard to make the breakthrough, could Parkes come in and prove himself?
