COULD Celtic be giving up their Dubai training camp for a friendly winter cup competition in Turkey?

Maybe, according to Antalyaspor President Ali Safak Ozturk.

Speaking out about a potential glamour winter tournament the Ozturk was hopeful of landing two footballing giants in both Milan and Celtic.

“We are talking to various clubs. Hopefully during the winter period, we will bring clubs here and organise tournaments.

“Milan is one of the clubs, and so is Celtic. Hopefully we will bring them to Antalya in the winter and introduce our facilities and the region. And other breakthroughs will then come.”

This idea seems to be in its infancy right now as reported by the Daily Record.

Brendan Rodgers has taken his Celtic side to Dubai during the winter break the past two seasons he’s been here and it remains to be seen if he’ll want to give up that routine to go head to head in competition with other European clubs.

There would be benefits to Celtic playing against some tough opposition but it also could be a bad idea to have the players playing more game time when they should be resting.

If Rodgers believes it could keep or get some of his squad match sharp for the second half of the season then there might just be something to this.

For now at least, there’s nothing concrete but we know plenty of fans who wouldn’t mind a trip to Turkey in the winter to watch the bhoys.
