Celtic are set to offer former Leicester defender and Premier a league winner Danny Simpson a trial next week with a view to a potential deal with the Scottish Champions.

Neil Lennon is desperate to land some quality and at 32, will the Irishman see value in bringing in a player with Danny’s experience?

Danny has been out of contract since the summer with Brendan Rodgers choosing not to keep him on at Leicester.

The defender will now look to win a deal with Celtic according to SunSport.

Simpson has over 200 premier league appearances to his name and could be a valuable short term asset if he impresses.

It won’t be a marquee signing but the fans would certainly take a wait and see approach to this kind of signing.

Having just offloaded some dead wood this summer, Lennon must be absolutely sure before signing anyone and not bring in bodies for the sake of it.

  1. Is this the best you can do another oldie guy ar 32 absolute disgrace not a happy hoops fan one bit why you not going for ankersen mangala from man city free agent I’ve seen couple of good defenders even amadu from Chelsea etc so there is better defenders than Simpson.

  2. Having got rid of some deadwood means we can start to accumulate replacement deadwood rather than actually recruit football players to improve the team. Plug the gaps on the cheap and hope it works out. Brilliant planning strategy. If Rangers were thinking about signing this guy we would be pointing and laughing. What a load of rubbish.
