Celtic striker Adam Idah has been forced to withdraw from the Ireland squad for the upcoming international break through injury [X].

It comes after the big striker took a nasty elbow to the nose yesterday from Kilmarnock central defender Joe Wright.

The pair went up for a header, and although he didn’t mean it, Wright’s elbow ferociously connected with Idah.

The Irishman spent a good few minutes down on the Astro getting treatment, with blood visibly gushing from his nose.

Despite the knock, Idah played on until the 63rd minute, when Kyogo Furuhashi replaced him.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers wasn’t asked about Idah in any of his post-match interviews or his press conference.

We don’t know the extent of Idah’s injury, but it has been severe enough to rule him out of both of Ireland’s games against Finland in Dublin this Thursday and against England at Wembley on Sunday evening.

Rodgers will hope the 23-year-old recovers well and returns for what the boss has described as an ‘ultra-marathon’ of fixtures on the horizon.

The Hoops kick things off with a trip to Tynecastle a week on Saturday, for which having a full squad fit and available would be greatly welcomed by both the manager and fans.
