According to @Geo__team on Twitter, the player’s agent has confirmed Celtic’s interest in the 22-year-old defender.

Azarovi, who has already earned 18 caps for Georgia, moved to Shakhtar Donetsk from Red Star Belgrade last summer. In his debut season with Shakhtar, he made a significant impact, featuring in 33 games across all competitions, including four appearances in the Champions League.

Celtic will be in the market for a left-back this summer. There is a feeling that Greg Taylor, however good he may be in Scotland, can be improved upon in Europe.

Alexandro Bernebei wasn’t deemed good enough to be back up to the Scottish full-back after he was sent on loan to South America earlier this year.

It’s set to be a busy window for Celtic this summer, with Brendan Rodgers keen to being in some quality players as he looks to put up a fight in the Champions League.
