NEWCASTLE have been bought over by a cash-rich Saudi consortium reported to be worth billions. The English club is more than likely about to up its spending to become a major player in the Premier League over the next few years.

The club will have to gradually clear house of the players and coaches there and bring in the right people on big wages to make a difference.

Page 81 of The Scottish Daily Mail print edition claims former Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is a top target for the new owners and they could make their move for the Irishman once they settle Steve Bruce’s future and compensation.

Rodgers is highly regarded down south but his Leicester side have started their season poorly. The former Hoops boss has won a cup with Leicester but the elusive Champions League spot still remains the goal.

As we’ve seen from Brendan, if the deal is right and he believes it’s in his best interests – he would walk away from any club.

Could the manager be set to spearhead a Newcastle revolution?
