With Brendan Rodgers flying high yet again at Celtic in his second spell at the club, comparisons will inevitably be made between the current side and the Invincibles.

One player who was a big part of the first treble in 16 years was Stuart Armstrong, with the Scottish midfielder really stepping up that season.

His immediate equaliser in the Scottish Cup final quickly canceled out Aberdeen’s opener, setting the tone for a memorable victory to seal the treble.

Armstrong, who moved to Southampton in June 2018 and later joined MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps in September, made the journey across the Atlantic to watch the Hoops put on a show this afternoon with a 5-0 win against Ross County.

Still a part of the Scottish national team, he has gone on to have a respectable career away from the Hoops.

At 32, he is approaching the twilight of his career, but he will be long remembered for his time at Celtic from 2015 to 2018.

His ability to score goals from midfield was among the best supporters have seen over the last decade.

In big games, Armstrong scored as many goals as some strikers would hope to.

He will certainly be welcome back at Celtic Park anytime he wants to watch a game, as his impact at the club sometimes flies under the radar due to the quiet way in which he departed.

But prime Stuart Armstrong, You simply had to be there!
