Celtic invincible Stuart Armstrong thinks the club can be a difficult place to be at times.
The midfielder recently completed a switch to MLS outfit Vancouver Whitecaps.
He is seeking a new challenge abroad after failing to extend his stay with Southampton in the English Premier League.
Armstrong had a successful stint at St. Mary’s after leaving Celtic in the summer of 2018.
The midfielder won eight trophies with the Hoops and was key for Brendan Rodgers during his first spell in charge.
The boss seemed to get the best out of Armstrong, who is now plying his trade Stateside, linking up with fellow Scot Ryan Gauld in the process.
Since completing his transfer, the 32-year-old has spoken about his time with Celtic.
Although Armstrong enjoyed it, he admitted it could get strenuous at times.
“Celtic is a very tough place to be, especially when things aren’t going well,” he said (whitecapsfc.com).
“When I first moved there, I had a rough start, but then things really started to click.
“Winning the invincible treble was one of the highlights of my career—it was amazing. We qualified for the Champions League and faced the pressure of winning every single week.
“To win two trebles in a row was incredible, and then I left, and I think they won another treble. It’s an incredible club with incredible fans. The feeling you get playing at the stadium is top-notch.”
There were loose links of a potential Parkhead return for Armstrong this summer, but nothing materialised.
He did take a while to mull over his options and choose his next destination, but he will be hoping such consideration pays off and that his time in Vancouver is filled with prosperity.
Still capable despite his age, the ex-Celt will undoubtedly be up to the standard of the MLS.
