Celtic have joined Italian club Parma in the race for Brommapojkarna goalkeeper Leo Cavallius as Martin O’Neill continues to strengthen his squad.
The Hoops have been busy in recent days, completing deals for Mika Baur and Haissem Hassan while also advancing their pursuit of a new left-back.
However, another position remains on the club’s radar.
Celtic are looking to bring in another goalkeeper to compete with Vini Sinisalo for the gloved.
Kasper Schmeichel was forced into retirement last season, but even if he hadn’t had to undergo surgery, the Hoops would still likely be looking for a replacement with his contract due up this summer.
And the Hoops have identified Brommapojkarna youngster Leo Cavallius as a potential addition.
According to Scott Burns, Celtic and Serie A side Parma are both interested in the 21-year-old, who has been scouted by the Glasgow club.
Cavallius joined Brommapojkarna from IFK Stocksund last year and has now attracted attention from clubs outside Sweden.
The Hoops have already made significant progress elsewhere in the squad this week, with Baur and Hassan arriving as O’Neill looks to build a team capable of competing domestically and in the Champions League.
The goalkeeper position is now another area Celtic are looking to address.
Whether Cavallius becomes the man to provide that competition for Sinisalo remains to be seen, but the 21-year-old has clearly done enough in Sweden to attract attention from both Celtic and Parma.
