NICK POWELL has become a target for Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic it has emerged.

Reports down south claim the midfielder, currently under contract with Wigan is the subject of interest from a number of clubs including the Scottish Champions.

The midfielder, who was signed by Manchester United as a teenager for a reported £6million is coming into the last year of his contract at the end of this season and could be snapped up for a much lower fee.

The English midfielder has scored 12 goals so far this term in 33 appearances in all competitions for Wigan.

He tends to play in an advanced midfielder role, the sort of player Brendan Rodgers loves.

It’s no secret that the Celtic boss is looking to shake his team up with so many players underperforming this year.

Nick is a player that would suit Celtic’s transfer model pretty well, with a high sell on value should he be a success at the club.

  1. Watched him v Mulgrew’s Blackburn on Sunday. I couldn’t believe he was still with Wigan. Looks a decent sort of player…but here we are again. A player who suits Celtic’s transfer model….its a team we’re building not a bank balance…sign players that will add value on the park….nowhere else!!
