CELTIC are on the brink of making a little bit of history as they head into the St Johnstone game this evening.

Should they gain a positive result tonight against The Saints it will equal the best start to a domestic season in 50 years, set by the Lisbon Lions in the famous 66/67 season.

That season, Celtic won every competition they entered including the European Cup which is forever etched in our proud history.

While that achievement can’t be matched, if Celtic were to gain positive results against St Johnstone and then Hearts this weekend, they would surpass the Lions domestic achievement.

Speaking about it briefly, the Celtic manager felt humbled by the comparisons but was keen to focus on the task at hand.

Rodgers said: “To be talked of in the same breath as guys who created the legend of this club would obviously be a huge privilege.

“I haven’t really thought of it, to be honest, I just try to look to win our games, irrespective of what the consequences of that means.

Some may already be taking the teams unbeaten domestic campaign for granted but it was not so long ago we were toiling in the league, and our opposition tonight beat us in our own backyard.

Celtic can take nothing for granted and while this current squad doesn’t measure up to the Lions in every respect, if they do break their record, they deserve enormous credit.
