CELTIC will be getting a nice little cash boost this summer with the news Bournemouth have been promoted to the Premier League.

It was very late in August when Ryan Christie finally got his move away from Glasgow when The Cherries came looking for the attacking midfielder. Christie was in the final six months of his contract and would have been able to sign for any club half way through the season.

Celtic did well to get a fee for Ryan considering his contract situation. The even better move was baking in a promotion clause that would payout if Bournemouth made it to the Premier League during Ryan’s contract with the club.

Bournemouth guaranteed automatic promotion on Tuesday night meaning the clause will now be triggered.

The 72 reported back in 2021 that Ryan’s deal consisted of a promotion clause where Bournemouth would pay Celtic another £2m if they managed to reach the Premier League. It was also reported by respected journalist Alan Nixon in the Sun on Sunday print edition, (03.10.21, pg. 61).

Celtic look set to clinch the SPFL title and if they do, they will also land a major Champions League pay day for next season. The board will have no excuse but to invest in this team.
