According to the Irish Examiner, Damien Duff has taken up a coaching role with Celtic after weeks of speculation.

The Irishman revealed he had an interview with the club in November and told and spoke on Irish TV about swimming across to Glasgow if the bhoys wanted him at the club.

Duff was in the directors box for Celtic’s 2-1 loss to Salzburg on Thursday, sitting next to the Head of Youth Development, Chris McCart.

It’s thought now Damien was brought in this week to finalise a deal which will see him take over Shaun Maloney’s old job in the developmental side.

Maloney left Celtic back in October to take up a full-time job with the Belgium setup after initially only taking a part-time role.

Duff has been coaching under-15s at Shamrock Rovers and is reportedly really excited about signing for his bhoyhood heroes in a coaching capacity.

The former Chelsea man will now be tasked with helping to bring through Celtic’s next crop of talent.

The Irish Examiner say the former player will take up his post in January.
