SHAMROCK ROVERS has tonight confirmed Damien Duff has left the club to take up a post with Celtic.

The Irish Legend had been working with Shamrock’s youngsters for some time now but caught the eye of Brendan Rodgers who was keen to fill the role Shaun Maloney vacated last year.

Shaun left the role to pursue a first team coaching role at Belgium under his former Wigan boss, Roberto Martinez.

The former Celtic youth product admitting it was too good a chance to turn down the Third Placed World Cup Country.

Duff will be part of Celtic’s youth setup and will assist with bringing on the best young Celtic talent to the first team.

This means the Irishman will have  massive input into developing Karamoko Dembele and Armstrong Oko-Flex; two teenagers who look destined for Celtic Park’s hallowed turf.

In a statement, this evening Rovers thanked the former Premier League star for his efforts.
