Celtic were linked with a move for Romaine Sawyers on Saturday morning and this afternoon, MailSport have revealed the club launched a £1.5m bid for the midfielder!

However, the report states that this Celtic bid has been rejected! Brentford do NOT want to sell the player and want to make that clear to any suitors.

Sawyers, 27, has been attracting interest from a number of clubs but it appears Celtic have been the first this summer to put in a bid.

The Scottish Champion’s interest in the player is likely a result of the failed move for David Turnbull after the Motherwell star’s medical caused the deal collapse at the last minute.

Celtic will certainly be in the market for at least one midfielder this window, especially after Ntcham’s declaration this weekend. The Frenchman stayed his wish is to leave Celtic and believed the current league he plays in is hampering his progress.
