Celtic have confirmed the fixture details for their Premier Sports League Cup tie against Dundee United.
The Hoops were paired with Jim Goodwin’s side after the draw for the last 16, with Dundee United booking their place by finishing top of their group.
United recorded victories over Stirling Albion, Arbroath and The Spartans to secure top spot, despite slipping to a surprise defeat against Montrose during the group stage.
It will be the first meeting between the clubs this season and presents the Celts with an early test away from home as they look to make progress in the competition.
Martin O’Neill’s side will travel to Tannadice on Saturday, August 15, with kick-off scheduled for 5.45 pm as they begin their bid to reclaim the trophy.

Last season’s League Cup campaign ended in disappointment. Celtic were beaten by St Mirren in the final under Wilfried Nancy, falling just short of lifting the first domestic trophy of the campaign.
That result will still be fresh in the minds of supporters, making this year’s run all the more important. A trip to Tannadice is rarely straightforward, and Jim Goodwin’s side will see a home tie against the Scottish champions as an opportunity to test themselves against the Premiership champions.
The cup clash also comes well before the league meetings between the sides.
Dundee United’s first visit to Celtic Park in the Premiership is scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, meaning the League Cup tie will provide an early indication of where both teams stand in the opening weeks of the campaign.
Before attention turns to Tannadice, Celtic’s focus remains firmly on the start of the league season.
The champions get their Premiership campaign under way on Monday, August 3, with a home match against United’s city rivals, Dundee. Kick-off is at 7.30 pm, with the opening fixture of the league season being shown live on Sky Sports.
With the domestic campaign about to begin, the schedule is already taking shape, and Celtic now know exactly when they will begin their latest attempt to bring the League Cup back to Parkhead.
