Moritz Jenz became a league title winner with Celtic on Saturday after the Bhoys lifted the SPFL trophy. However, the defender is unable to fully enjoy this achievement at present due to his current loan club, FC Schalke, being relegated from the Bundesliga.

On Saturday, the Bhoys finally got their hands on the silverware they had clinched several weeks earlier at Tynecastle. It was a memorable day at Celtic Park, with supporters celebrating well into the early hours of the morning.

While there was a party in Glasgow, Moritz was in Germany, witnessing the end of his efforts to help Schalke stay in the league.

The German defender was initially supposed to be at Celtic for the full season. However, after playing a significant role in the first half of the campaign, he fell down the pecking order when Carl Starfelt returned from injury. The arrival of Yuki Kobayashi in January presented Jenz with a decision, and he chose to cut the loan deal short.

After a quick trip back to Lorient to finalise the deal with Schalke, Moritz was tasked with helping the Germans escape a challenging situation. He managed to initially stabilize the defense, but the damage was already done.

On the same day that he became a Celtic medal winner, he also experienced the heartache of relegation. Indeed, football is a peculiar game.
