LEIGH GRIFFITHS came back into the Celtic side earlier this season and got among the goals. Fitness issues then injuries have stopped the player from getting back int other team at present. Supporters want to see the wee striker pop back up and start scoring again – helping out Odsonne Edouard who is playing nearly every game for Celtic at the minute.

There have been question marks over whether he can fully come back and be the valuable asset he once was for the bhoys but Celtic Legend Frank McGarvey is certain Leigh can still walk the walk.

If you’ve got it you’ve got it – and Leigh Griffiths has got it. McGarvey told RecordSport.“He’s proved he’s a striker capable of playing at the highest level.

“His two goals against England at Hampden were outstanding. He’s a great finisher, he’s got so much going for him.

“I think he’s maybe got a wee bit of the ‘poor me’s’ and he has to try to get out of that and get back into the first team.

“He’s had problems and I can understand what he’s going through. But he’s got to get himself back.

“He’s a fantastic finisher and a brilliant player and it’s up to him to get back and be first choice.

“Can he come back given his problems and how long he has been out? Yes, you can always come back.”

Leigh will look to get back into the squad after this international break. The striker has been training with a skeleton Celtic squad this week to get his fitness back to a place where he can challenge for a place in the side. Celtic have a lot of games between October and the end of the year – fighting in three competitions. Having Leigh back for some of the big fixtures could prove invaluable.
