Former Celtic striker Kenny Dalglish has defended majority shareholder, Dermot Desmond and believes too easy to simply blame him.

As quoted by the Daily Record, Dalglish defended the fact that Desmond isn’t ‘fully invested’ with what is going on at Celtic at the moment.

Celtic fans are angry and frustrated just now, and that is understandable.

“They had their hearts set on winning “The Ten” this season, and that is now all but gone.

“However, people inside the club will also be hurting – the manager, the chairman, the players and the chief executive.

“They will all be feeling the pain. The club’s majority shareholder, Dermot Desmond, will also be feeling it.

“Some Celtic supporters have been critical of him in recent times because they see him as an “absentee landlord”.

“They would like him to be more visible, and more hands-on.

“But that kind of criticism always happens when trophies are not being won

“Did we hear many disgruntled voices when the Treble Treble was secured in May 2019?

“Celtic then went on to win their 12th domestic trophy on the trot when they defeated Hearts in the Scottish Cup Final last month.

“Four Trebles on the trot. It was a monumental achievement.

“But it is all about the here and now for most Celtic fans, I get that.

“Make no mistake, Dermot will be heavily involved in the next few days, weeks and months.

“He knows exactly what’s going on inside Celtic Park, and he will be at the heart of any decisions that are made.”

Not only Dermot Desmond but the entire board have faced heavy criticism for the on-goings at the club this season.

Whether that be the decision to stick with current manager, Neil Lennon for so long or more recently sanctioning the trip to Dubai last week. It hasn’t been a good week at all for those involved with the club.

This has to lead to a lot of Celtic fans asking for change, starting with the likes of Desmond and Peter Lawwell at the very top, as well as changing the management position.

It feels like a big rebuild is needed now and whether that is without without the majority shareholder, several named should be departing the club this summer.

  1. Behave dalgleish the man is a absentee landlord he has allowed lawwell to control things that he should not have been. As long as the share price was good or his ego wasn’t taking a slap all was good in his eyes, now the possibility of a fan revolt has gave him a shake.
